UNMH Nene and Jamie Koch Comprehensive Movement Disorder Center (CMDC) and Senior Health Center (SHC)

Location

Albuquerque, NM

The project adds a Senior Health Clinic (SHC) and a Comprehensive Movement Disorders Clinic (CMDC) to UNMH’s campus. The two-story building is designed to take advantage of a sloped site, allowing the clinics to be offset to maximize daylight and views. Each clinic has a grade-level primary entrance, dedicated same-level parking, and direct access to natural light. Each clinic consists of three ‘treatment pods’, designed around interior courtyard spaces that provide natural light and views to the treatment rooms while not compromising patient privacy.

Natural light and views to promote patient wellbeing are at the core of the conceptual design, where rational programmatic clarity facilitates intuitive wayfinding within each clinic.

The project is designed to earn LEED Silver Certification. In preparation for future expansion, the design adds a shell space at the lower level that is serviced by an elevator and stair.
