Location
Santa Fe, NM (unbuilt)
This new 30,000 sq.ft. building was designed to be constructed on the Santa Fe Railyard. In keeping with the Master Plan for the Railyard, the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market building was designed in an industrial warehouse vocabulary reminiscent of railyard maintenance sheds constructed at the turn of the last century.
Responding to the mandate for sustainable and ‘green’ buildings, the mechanical system was designed for maximum efficiency and thin-film photovoltaic panels were proposed on the roof to offset energy costs. Glass facades were proposed to optimize daylighting, and a butterfly roof was proposed to collect rainwater to be contributed to the Railyard’s water harvesting system.
