Albuquerque Museum Education Center

Location

Albuquerque, NM

The new 13,000 sf Education Center at the Albuquerque Museum will expand the museum’s education facilities with classrooms and support spaces for educators and free community space for underserved communities. Covered rooftop terraces will offer additional shaded, controlled areas for outdoor instruction and activities. These terraces will also provide a venue for events that will not disrupt the normal functioning of the museum, as well as providing balcony-level viewing space for Amphitheater events.

The building is designed to be minimal and contemporary. The abstract wall surfaces will provide curated opportunities for murals and promotional graphics for the Albuquerque Museum. The building is sited to encourage entry off 19th Street NW and to provide connections reinforcing the cultural components of the Albuquerque Rail Trail system. Phase 1 will be complete in 2026.
